Logging Cable

Wireline Logging Cable

Logging Cable
Characteristics of Logging Cable:
A wireline logging cable serves as the vital mechanical tether and digital artery for well intervention. It is engineered to accurately suspend, convey, and support downhole logging tools (sondes) to the targeted depth within the borehole. Acting as a secure dual-purpose link, it simultaneously transmits continuous electrical power and high-fidelity real-time sensor data between the downhole equipment and the surface data acquisition system. We offer a comprehensive range of configurations, including 3-Conductor (W3BP), 4-Conductor (W4B), and 7-Conductor (W7BPP) series. For ultra-deep and heavily loaded operations, our High-Strength HS series is designed to withstand the harshest physical demands.

Technical Description

  • Logging Cable Characteristics of Logging Cable: A wireline logging cable serves as the vital mechanical tether and digital artery for well intervention.
  • Superior Mechanical Strength (The Core of Logging): The reliability of a logging operation entirely depends on the cable's ability to endure extreme tension, twisting, and crushing without failure. Our logging cables are engineered to deliver outstanding mechanical robustness:
Balanced Double-Layer Steel Wire Armor: The cable features a proprietary inner right-hand and outer left-hand double-layer steel wire construction. This specialized counter-rotation design effectively neutralizes torque, preventing dangerous "bird-caging" (unwinding) or kinking when the cable is under heavy tension or running through multiple logging sheaves. High Tensile Steel Grades: We provide two mechanical grades—Standard (armor steel tensile strength ≥1870MPa) for routine operations, and our upgraded HS series (armor steel tensile strength ≥2160MPa) specifically engineered for deep, complex well environments. Proven Breaking Strength: In our premium 7-conductor HS models (like the W7BPP-HS-11.8), the overall cable breaking strength reaches an impressive 100 kN, ensuring safe recovery of the heaviest bottom-hole assemblies. Stable Elongation Characteristics: The cable has a strictly controlled residual elongation rate of ≤0.2%, ensuring that the depth measurements remain highly accurate during repeated tension cycles over the well's lifespan.
  • Reliable Electrical Performance (Signal and Power Transmission): Beyond mechanical holding power, the cable must act as a flawless electrical conduit in extreme HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) environments. Our logging cables guarantee exceptional electrical stability:
High-Conductivity Copper Conductors: Solid or stranded conductors with customizable metallic coatings (bare, tinned, silver-plated, or nickel-plated) provide low DC resistance (e.g., ≤34 Ω/km for 7-core models), reducing voltage drop during long-distance power transmission. Advanced High-Temp Insulation: We utilize specialized insulating materials (B for Modified Polypropylene, and F46 for Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene). F46 offers thermal stability up to 232°C and maintains a superior insulation resistance of ≥500 MΩ·km, effectively preventing signal leakage and short circuits in high-temperature wells. Electromagnetic Shielding & Low Capacitance: Models with the PP suffix feature both phase and overall shielding, effectively preventing electromagnetic interference (EMI) during sensitive data acquisition. The optimized insulation also ensures stable line capacitance (e.g., ≤0.14 μF/km) to maintain signal integrity for high-frequency data telemetry. High-Voltage Withstand Capability: All our cables pass a strict 1kV AC, 5-minute withstanding voltage test without dielectric breakdown, guaranteeing the safe operation of downhole high-power instruments.
  • Deployment and Supply Capabilities: Our armored logging cables are designed for versatile wireline surface units. They operate smoothly over winch drums and logging sheaves with minimal hysteresis. We supply our cables in continuous lengths ranging from 5,000 feet to 35,000 feet, meticulously wound onto heavy-duty wooden or steel reels, ready for immediate rig-side deployment.
  • Applications and Solutions: Our electrical logging cables are widely utilized across the well lifecycle, including:
Open-hole and cased-hole wireline logging and reservoir evaluation. Downhole perforating and sidewall coring operations. Production well monitoring and deep-set pressure/temperature sensing. Powering submersible pumps and complex downhole instrumentation.
  • Why Choose Us? We don't just supply standard wireline cables; we provide mission-critical downhole mechanical lift and electrical solutions.
Engineered for Extremes: We offer precise current derating calculations and deployment tension analysis to match your specific bottom-hole temperature (BHT) and rig tension requirements. Dual-Grade Strength Options: Whether you require cost-effective standard tensile strength or the ultimate 100 kN breaking strength from our HS series, we provide comprehensive technical data (including breaking strength, residual elongation, insulation resistance, and capacitance) to support your engineering validation. Global Compliance: Manufactured strictly in accordance with Chinese petroleum industry standards (Q/SY 13001-2016, SY/T 6600-2020) and rigorous international tensile testing protocols, our logging cables guarantee minimal downtime and maximum service longevity.
